Boys Schools winners On a cold, windy but sunny Sunday at Gresham's school, the boys schools semi and finals were played yesterday. In the U18 final, the Perse beat Ipswich 1-0 in a tightly fought game. In the U16 final Ipswich beat Norwich 3-1. In the U14 final the Leys beat Gresham's 6-3. Both U14 teams will feature in the National Quarter finals as Ipswich were last year's National winners. All these teams will be playing their National Quarter finals by March 14th and we wish them every success in their games. |

Indoor Success Many congratulations go to the Perse School's U16 Boys' Indoor team. They won their National Championship at the Indoor Competition at the week-end beating Whitgift School to retain their title.
Congratulations also go to Ipswich Girls' U16 team who were runners-up to Belper in their competition. |

Girls U16 Schools On December 6th on a wet and windy day in Norwich, the East Girls U16 Schools Championship was decided. Despite the conditions the standard of hockey was good, the girls coping very well with the persistent rain in the morning. The deciding rounds were played in the afternoon in dry but cold and windy weather with Sevenoaks School beating Gresham's on penalty strokes after drawing 1-1 in the final. |

Indoor Competitions This week-end saw three out of the four regional rounds of the National Indoor Clubs and Schools Championship take place. The U16 girls competition took place at Colchester on Saturday. This was won by Chelmsford Hockey Club with Ipswich School in second place. On Sunday at the same venue, in the Girls U18 competition Chelmsford was beaten into second place by Queenswood School. On Sunday at Bedford School, the U16 boys competition took place. Here, last year's result was reversed with Ipswich School coming first and the Perse School coming second. All these teams will be representing the East at the National Championships on January 25th, 26th and 27th January. Full results will be on the website shortly. |

Girls Schools Competitions In both the U14 and U18 Regional rounds of the Girls Schools competitions, Queenswood from Herts were victorious. In the U14 competition they reached the final by beating Ipswich on penalties.In the final they beat Felsted by a single goal.They will be representing the East at the National finals on March 2nd 2008 at St.George's College Weybridge. They will be joined there by the U18 team who also clinched their title by a single goal against King's School from Canterbury. |

Girls' Champions The Girls' County U15 and U17 Championships were decided on November 18th. AT UEA Cambs U17 team was victorious whilst at Redbridge Essex became U15 champions. Both teams will be in action at the National Championships in April next year and we send them our good wishes.
The U14 girls Schools Championship was held on November 20th at Holcombe Hockey Club. The semi final between Ipswich and Queenswood was won by Queenswood after 26 penalty strokes. In a keenly contested final against Felsted, Queenswood eventually became Champions winning 1-0. |

Boys' Championships Yesterday saw the Finals day for both the U15 and U17 Boys' Championships.The u15 Boys' Championship was won by Essex without losing a game. The u17 Boys' Championship went down to the wire with Cambs pipping Lincs at the post. Both teams had the same number of points but Cambs had the greater goal difference. We send our good wishes to both counties when they play in the National Championships in April 2008.

New Indoor Section on the website: With the growing importance of indoor hockey both nationally and locally, a new section has been added to the website. The contents of the section will grow as information becomes available.
At present you can find contact details for the East Indoor Activator, Brian Perks, plus details of the East and National indoor programme for the coming season, and an application form for the East Qualifers for the National league.

Ipswich School Supreme We would like to congratulate the Ipswich School U14 Boys' team.They won the National Championship in their age group beating Cranleigh School 3-2 in the finals on Wednesday 28th March. |

Girls' County League: Suffolk win the U13 title. On March 11th at Redbridge Suffolk U13 girls won the first title for Suffolk girls. Not losing a single game and drawing with Cambridge, Suffolk gained 13 points whereas the next team Kent could only manage 7 points. On the same day, the U14 counties were in action but the postponed final four games will not be played until April 29th in Cambridge. |

Cambs win the U15 Boys County Championships On March 25th at Bedford, Cambs won the U15 Boys' County Championship in style, winning every match and scoring 39 goals and finishing with a goal difference of 30 goals. We wish them well in the National Round of the County Championships at East Grinstead, where they will join the Norfolk U17 team representing the East on April 28th/29th. The Girls' County representatives in both age groups are Essex and they will be playing at Bournemouth and we wish them well,too. |

Mini Championships: Essex teams were very successful in the Mini U11 and U13 championships on March 11th and March 18th. At Bedford, Old Loughtonians U11s pipped Ipswich Prep School by one goal, both teams having gained 15 points. Felsted Prep school girls won with 17 points, with the next team Ipswich Prep School coming second with 14 points. In the U13 girls at a very cold Redbridge, it was Felsted's turn to win on goal difference with the Junior King's School Canterbury coming second. However, the U13 Boys was won by Woodbridge School from Suffolk spoiling the hopes of the Essex supporters for a clean sweep. |

Girls League Finals: The U15 Girls'League Finals were played at the University of East Anglia on February 25th. Essex won with style having defeated all the other counties and will represent the East at the National County Finals on the week-end of April 28th /29th. |

East Round National Schools Championship: Suffolk Schools Supreme.
Suffolk Schools were victoriuos in the East round of the National Schools championship held at Felsted and braintree on Sunday February 25th. In the U18 competition Ipswich beat Felsted 3-1, whilst in the U16 competition Framlingham College beat Ipswich 3-2. The U14 competition produced a thrilling final between Ipswich and Gresham's. Just after half time it had seemed that Ipswich had the game in the bag as they were leading 4-2. However, Gresham's levelled the match 4-4 but then were unable to win the penalty stroke competition. |

Success at the National Indoor Championshipsfor boys and girls Three out of the four National Indoor Championships for boys and girls were won by teams from the East. In the U18 boys, Ipswich School beat Millfield in the final 4-3, whilst in the U16 boys, the Perse School who had come second in their pool,beat Sevenoaks 4-3 in their final. In the girls U18 King's Canterbury had to go to penalties against Bromsgrove to clinch their title. Of our other representatives, Ipswich Boys (U16), Old Loughtonians (U16 and U18) and Harleston Magpies Hockey Club (U16 and U18 girls) all came third in their Pools whilst Chelmsford Hockey Club reached the semi-final in the U16 girls. |
