1) The minutes of the
previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Matters
arising. None
2) Correspondence. None
.
3)
The meeting on the Youth Competitions and Framework had been well
attended and England appreciated the views put forward. There had been a
discussion of the problems associated with small sided games.
4) East. There was a discussion on the dissemination of
information between the
Youth Competitions and Performance Committee. It was
felt that many of the people now
involved in the Single System needed to be
able to have more information than presently
could be easily accessed. It was felt that
two joint meetings during the year would help
with
this problem. The Youth Committee, The
Performance Committe and Ryuag would
have
their meetings first and then all
3 Committees would come together for the second
half of
the evening. These meetings would be on November 10th 2011
and April 19th
2012. Venues were to be
investigated by S. Tippen and J. Wood.
5) Competitions.
A discussion was held on the role of East JAC
Competitions within the Single
System.
It had been noted that not all counties were able to compete at all age
groups. It
was
also noted that the players on the
fringes of the squads needed to be encouraged to
stay in hockey. It was felt that there
should be an alternative model to increase
participation.
C. Farrow and Martin Williams would work
on a paper to be sent to the
counties and their coaches in the next 2 weeks
as to their thoughts on what they would
like to see in a JAC competition. It may be
possible to run a pilot scheme next season.
The U13 organised Friendlies with a
Festival to finish have been widely appreciated,
although a variety of programmes had been used. These would be sent
out later so that
when counties knew the numbers of teams
involved, these could be used as templates.
The Proposals for next Season’s JACs were
discussed and it was hoped that any changes
that may be forthcoming after the
discussions could be included.
The Performance Committee will be taking
over the running of the JACs.
The proposals for the schools and the
minis were also discussed.
6) Reports from the counties:
Beds have a worrying lack of boys in
their JACs and are seeking to play friendlies on a
league basis.
Cambs Cambs, too noted a lack of players
in some age groups.
Essex
Essex had held some friendly schools tournaments as well as some
emerging
schools competitions.
Herts Has made some suggestions with
regard to the U13 festival venues.
Kent Kent has withdrawn from the JACs and said that
they had appreciated being with
us and that winning the U17 girls competition meant that they were leaving on a
high!
Lincs
had found it difficult this season with again a problem particularly
with the older
boys. They had found it quite expensive
to play in the East.
Norfolk has used tournaments to help
develop their Young umpires.
Suffolk
Suffolk commented on the venues
for the JACs.
The meetings for the next season:
September 29th Youth
Competitions Committee
November 11th Joint meeting
with Performance and RYUAG
February 23rd Youth
Competitions Committee
April 19th Joint Meeting with
Performance and RYUAG
