This Page summarises some of the things that a club needs to know and do before the East League season starts
Pay your league fees. Invoices for league fees and umpiring fees will be issued to all Club CLO's in summer. Payment must be made before the start of the League season.
Ensure that your club information page is up to date. To see the information on your club that is currently in the league database, use the ClubSearch facility via the link in the top navigation bar. Please keep your information up to date throughout the season. Incorrect contact details, particularly for League and Umpiring Liaison Officers, can lead to penalties and loss of league points under some circumstances. To make changes to your details now or during the season, follow the link on the Home page or here. Your club password will be needed. Update your club details.
Check the changes in the league rules. The full rules for are available as a printable, downloadable rtf document. You should at the very least this year look at the revisions in the rules on overseas players in premier divisions and on increased bans following multiple yellow cards. You also need to be aware of the new transfer system, and of the need to register club umpires with the Leagues. See the full rules.
Note your League Managers for the new season. Ensure that your captains are aware of the names and contact details of the League Managers responsible for the divisions in which they will be playing. These are the managers to whom teamsheets should be sent, results reported ((in the EML), and queries and complaints directed.
Also send contact details
for your Captains (tel & email) to your League Managers before the season starts - on penalty of a £20 fine. See the current officer list.
Print off teamsheets ready for the season. Distribute these to your captains and club officers and make sure tha they understand the rules and deadlines with regard to reporting results and sending in teamsheets. New Captains especially! Note that Transfer Forms are now replaced by a website Player Transfer system. Download league forms.
Register all your EML Premier A and EWL Premier players. Teams must register all players who will participate in these divisions. No more than ONE overseas players can be registered IN TOTAL throughout the season. You must use the league registration form, and send in your initial squad registration before the season starts. This is a rule introduced at the request of England hockey to ensure that all teams promoted into the national league do so from a regional division with rules and procedures of a certain standard.. Download the premier division registration form.
EHL clubs must register 10 starred players. An EHL club with a second team in the East league must provide the appropriate League Manager with a list of ten first team players who will not play in East League matches. Failure to provide the list will mean automatic loss of all matches.
Provide details of ALL home game venues and start times. Home clubs must
put details of match venues and times on this website by the start of the season for all their games up to Christmas, and by Nov 30th for all games after Christmas. The information will be displayed in the fixtures/results pages linked from the left-hand navigation bar on all league pages. Access the venue upload system here: Go to venue uploads.
Umpires. Every club must input a list of its Level 1 and Probationer Level 1 umpires to theis website using the Club Umpire Register system, including contact details for each umpire (preferably email). All umpires for East League matches must be paid-up members of a CHUA. If an umpire not registered with the League umpires a league match, the result will be declared invalid and the points awarded to the opposition. Alll umpires in East League matches must be Level 1 and have a CHUA membership, and all clubs must have at least two qualified umpires for every team they have in the league.
Note: the "start of the season" applicable to several of these rules is the first league Saturday. There are of course other requirements to be fulfilled during the course of the season. Check the League Rules to see these additional tasks.
Whilst this all may seem onerous, the rules are designed to ease the work of the unpaid volunteers who run the three East Leagues, and also and importantly to ensure fair competition at all levels of play.
