INDOOR HOCKEY REPORT   

 

The East qualifying tournaments for national league places were played on 6 Dec 08 for the women and 13-14 Dec 08 for the men, both held at Kelsey Kerridge, Cambridge.  There were 6 women’s teams and 11 men’s teams taking part.  The winner for the men were West Herts and St Albans for the women but both did not progress and were returned to the East League for season 2009-10.

 

The East Indoor Championships for men and women was held at Kelsey Kerridge, Cambridge on 20-21 Dec 08 and Sevenoaks won the women’s championship and Chelmsford won the men’s championship. 

 

Next season in the National League:  Premier Division Canterbury, Chelmsford and Ipswich (women) and Old Loughtonians, Harleston Magpies and St Albans (men), Division 1 Sevenoaks, Harleston Magpies and Old Loughtonians (women).

 

At the National Finals in Birmingham Old Loughtonians (men) lost to Reading, and Canterbury (women) lost to Bowden Hightown in the semi-finals.

 

A national competition called the Trophy Finals was held for the first time and Chelmsford men WON with Crostyx (men) joint 3rd and Cambridge City (women) WON with Crostyx (women) 3rd.  This competition is for those teams finishing 2nd and 3rd in the regional qualifying tournaments.

 

The East programme for 09-10 is as follows and all indoor hockey will be played at Kelsey Kerridge, Cambridge:

 

05-06 Dec        Women’s qualifying tournament for national league

12-13 Dec         Men’s             “                 ”          “         ”         “

19-20 Dec         Men and Women’s East Indoor Championships

 

National Indoor League programme:

 

12-13 Dec         Premier League

09-10 Jan         Premier, Division 2 South and Division 2 North

16-17 Jan         Division 1 and Indoor Trophy

23-24 Jan        Division 1 and Division 2

30-31 Jan         Indoor Finals, Indoor Trophy (30 Jan)
