INDOOR HOCKEY REPORT   

 

The East qualifying tournaments for national league places were played on 1-2 Dec 07, the men at Kelsey Kerridge, Cambridge and the women at Bethnal Green.  There were 5 women’s teams and 10 men’s teams taking part.  The winner for the men were  Peterborough who came 4th in Division 2 North and returned to the region, and St Albans for the women, who made it through to the second week of Division 2 but came 6th and were returned to the East League.

 

The East Indoor Championships for men and women was held at Kelsey Kerridge, Cambridge on 8-9 Dec 07.  All our national league sides participated, along with the teams placed 1st and 2nd for the women, and 1st, 2nd and 3rd for the men in the qualifying tournaments.  The winners were Old Loughtonians (men) and Chelmsford (women).

 

Unfortunately these 3 weekends came in over budget and the Indoor Working Group are determined that this shall not happen again.  

 

Old Loughtonians men and Ipswich women came 2nd and 3rd respectively in the National Premier Indoor League and therefore competed at the NIA, Birmingham. 

 

The East programme for 08-09 is as follows and all indoor hockey will be played at Kelsey Kerridge, Cambridge.:

 

6-7 Dec            Women’s qualifying tournament for national league

13-14 Dec         Men’s             “                 ”          “         ”         “

20-21 Dec         Men and Women’s East Indoor Championships

 

National Indoor League programme:

 

13-14 Dec         Premier League

03-04 Jan        Division 2 South and Division 2 North

10-11 Jan          Premier and Division 1

17-18 Jan         Division 1 and Division 2

National Indoor Trophy - new competition for Club sides who finish 2nd and 3rd in the regional qualifying tournaments.  This will give 10 teams, who will play in 2 pools of 5.

25 Jan             Indoor Finals, NIA, Birmingham.
