YOUTH COMPETITIONS REPORT 2007-8

A good season with a variety of teams coming away with the trophies this year.

I am pleased to report that we have nobody leaving the Committee this coming season.  – I feel that with the changes that the Single System will bring it will be our last in this format.  I have asked Management that with the Performance Groups support we look at the role of the group and the competitions that will need to be organised in future years and obviously these changes will be reported back over next season and will form the basis of my report next year.

Fiona Wheeler and I have met to organise the format of each competition next year and the venues. We still have some work to do on the Boys Schools event. We will need Counties and schools/clubs to provide umpires on occasions – due to England commitments we have very few opportunities for competitions and this creates a fixture congestion. We will indeed need more indoor umpires.

My thanks go to the Management Committee for their support as well as the Youth Competitions group. A big thank you for anyone who has umpired for us and acted as a TD for the day.

Once again a big thank you to Fiona Wheeler – who without her time and efforts, Youth Competitions would indeed be poorer.
