East Youth Competitions Committee 

 

Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday November 15th at The University Sports ground Wilberforce Road.

Present: L. Bant Chair, F. Wheeler Secretary,  K. Edwards Norfolk(B & G),

C. Farrow Suffolk (B & G), G. Welch Herts (B), J. Wood Herts (G), D Menear Essex (B & G), S.Tippen Cambs ( B & G).

Apologies were received from: D. Hill Norfolk (B)and Lincs (B & G).

 

1. The minutes were agreed by those who had been present at the previous

     meeting and signed.

2. Matters arising.   The refurbishment of both the Dereham and Redbridge

   pitches has been completed.

 

3. Correspondence.  This was dealt with in the Girls’ Reps meeting

 

4. East and England.

   Charlie Farrow elaborated on the way the Single System would affect the

   Counties.  The Counties had to have their plans in by March 1st.  There was

   approximately £7000 per county to be used to help set up the JDCs and JACs.

   However, activities do need to be sustainable.

   At Regional level.  There will still be regional level competitions but they will

  be between the Regional Academies rather than the regions as we know them.

  The U15 and U17 County Championships will take place next year although

   they will not be run by England.   For the U14s there will be 2 High

   Performance Camps next year.  

   East Minis.  The Sponsorship this year will cover some of the

   pitch costs as well as the activities provided by the Youth Panel.

 

5.  The U21 Tournament this year is to be hosted by Essex and will take place

     on  Sunday, March 30th 2008.

 

Girls’ Representatives Meeting

  Competitions:  The Competitions Secretary reported that the season was not

  going as well as usual.  The congestion of fixtures had led to more complaints

   than usual although when  the reasons were  explained the coaches/managers

   accepted that there were difficulties. 

  There had been a complaint from  Suffolk about the incident that occurred on

   October 14th, at the U17 league fixture at Braintree  The reports form those

   who were involved were discussed. The follow up from this from Kent was

   reported and C.Farrow would talk to those involved.

 

  There was also a complaint from the TD at St.Ives about the lack of umpires at

  the fixture on November 11th.  Unfortunately, one umpire had been taken to

  umpire Minis and another had been injured on the Saturday.

  There was also a discussion about umpires in general.

  The u17 B programme was starting on December 9th in Cambridge.

 The Competitions Secretary was still waiting for the last replies before working

  out the participants for the U13 friendly fixtures.  

 

 County Reports

  Cambs produced a written report detailing their winners in various categories.

  It was noted that Cambs were looking for personnel for the younger age groups

  for development. 

  Essex . Essex reported on their winners and the progress that their County

  teams were making.  It was also commented on that they had received no

  reports form the Summer Camps.

  Herts reported on the progress being made in the discussions of the Single

  System as did Norfolk.

  Kent and Herts were putting forward their bids in March.

  Suffolk.  Suffolk is  looking to introduce the new JAC format in 2008/9. 

  Lincs  The report suggested that with the advent of  Regional centres  the

  Lincs  players may find themselves playing outside what was the East.

 

Boys’ Representative meeting

 The Competitions Secretary produced a written report. Cambs had won the u14

 boys County Championship  winning all their matches and Suffolk the U16 Championship winning all

 their games.  

 Reports:

Cambs.  Draft proposals for the Single System had been put forward.

Essex. The progress of the County teams had been noted. Essex will submit their grant application for the single system on Dec1st. 

Herts. A well attended meeting on the single system had taken[place on September 17th . 

Lincs A written report  from the coaches expressed some dissatisfaction with the running of some of the Championships. F.Wheeler to comment on this.

Suffolk ‘s written report gave the winners of the Indoor competitions.  

 

Indoor. We are short of umpires for our competitions on the week-end of Dec1st and 2nd.  Can anyone helpus,please.

 

The next meeting is on March 6th venue to be decided.

The meeting closed at 9.15pm.
