Joint Meeting.
1. Minutes: These were signed by the chair.
2. Matters arising: The East Constitution would be discussed later.
3. Correspondence: The Competitions secretary had had an apology
form D.Rose about the absence of East Umpires for the U13 boys Festival.
4. East
a) Constitution. The Committee
felt that as some counties still held their junior meetings separately it would
not be advisable to limit the
representatives to just one person. A suggestion was made that the meetings might
be held at Stansted. There was also a
suggestion which was agreed
that there should be only 4 meetings in the year with no meeting
in January.
b) U21. Concern was expressed at the absence of the boys U21 and the
U21 girls team that represented the East at the National U21 competition. It
was felt that the Tournament that we had organised for selection purposes in December had been wasted. Should we be organising one this year?
5. Medals
Some counties had asked for
there to be medals for the second placed team in the county championships. It was agreed to do this and not to have any
certificates.
6. The Draft programme.
Minis. On reflection it was felt that having the
minis on April 22nd would cause difficulties as many schools would
only be returning on that day and would not have been able to have had any
practices. The Umpires too expressed a
wish that the U11 and U13 tournaments should be on different days so that the young umpire could do
both. The dates of
March 11th was put forward for the U11s and March 18th
for the U13s.
Girls Representatives Meeting
1. A discussion was held on
whether there should be a week-end tournament on March 10th /11th
2007. It was felt that this would not be
possible as both players and coaches would be involved
in League matches on the Saturday and some counties would not be able to field
their best team.
2. A discussion was held on the possibility of extending the U13s League
matches by 5 minutes each way. This
would cost more as a different pitch for finals day would be needed at about
£450. It was felt that this too could be
discussed next year.
Reports were handed out by the Competitions secretary and the counties
present.
Boys Representatives Meeting
The programme was discussed with several changes being made and the addition
of the U11 and U12 festivals. Reports from the counties present were
handed out.
